Many immigrants in our area have substantial educational credentials from their home countries, but are unsure about how to make this education work for them here. Some believe they have to “start over” in order to qualify for college or university admission or for employment in their field.

On December 10, NOVA will be presenting Making Your Foreign Education Count in the U.S. on both the Annandale and Manassas campuses of NOVA.

National Campaign Empowers Homeowners to Combat Loan Modification Scams

A new wave of scam activity is targeting homeowners facing foreclosure. With the national foreclosure rate at an all-time high of 7.97%, many homeowners have turned to loan modification or foreclosure "rescue" companies for help -- only to realize they've been scammed. To combat loan modification scams, Congress asked NeighborWorks America to launch a national public education campaign designed to empower homeowners to protect themselves against loan modification scams, find trusted help and report illegal activity to authorities.
