NEEDS YOUR HELP! 

We are looking for bilingual volunteers who are fluent in English and their native language to help us assist and share information with older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers with limited English speaking skills.

If interested, please join us for a free all-day Bilingual Volunteer Orientation Training!

RSVP is required by Thursday, April 22nd. Seats are limited to 24 participants.
Lunch will be served.  Please indicate dietary needs when you respond; we will try to provide reasonable accommodation.
 

Come learn about free county services that benefit members of your community. Training will be provided in English by 15+ key staff members for the following topics:

§       Overview of Fairfax Area Agency on Aging programs and services
§       Fairfax Family Caregiver Program
§       Volunteer Solutions
§       Understanding Information & Referral and Confidentiality
§       Adult Protective Services (APS)
§       Adult & Aging Services, such as In-home care and Respite
§       ElderLink Programs, including: Independent Living Project, Money Management, Share Care, and Case Management
§       Understanding the difference between Independent Senior Housing, Assisted Living, and Nursing Centers
§       Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program
§       Senior Centers
§       Nutrition Programs (such as Meals-on-Wheels and nutritional supplements) & Congregate meals
§       Adult Day Health Care Centers and Senior Plus Program
§       Self-sufficiency programs, such as Medicaid, food stamps, and other public benefits
§       Virginia Insurance Counseling & Assistance Program (VICAP) for when you have questions about Medicare
§       Disability Services
§       Seniors-on-the-Go!, Taxi Access, Metro Access, and Travel Training
§       Fastran
§       Parktakes activities
