The workshops will emphasize practical strategies for success and provide the essential elements you need to function effectively in today’s procurement arena.

To benefit the Legacy for Fairfax Program for the Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center Monday, October 4, 2010 Registration Opens at 10:00am Start Time: 12:30pm At the prestigious Army Navy Country Club www.legacyforfairfax.org The Legacy for Fairfax Golf Tournament is a fundraising tournament for the soon to open Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center. The center will be a place for the entire community to enjoy for years to come and the golf tournament will raise much needed funding to support the center and furnish it for all it's wonderful uses. The funds will help provide affordable and accessible programming for the arts, recreation and cultural activities for young and old. The City of Fairfax is grateful for the support from Army Navy Country Club that is a major supporter of the community center and the Legacy for Fairfax program. Your sponsorship and support will not only receive benefits from the tournament recognition and branding, you will also be memorialized at the Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center with a brick or paver depending on the level of support. Every little bit helps to achieve our goals. Sign up today and look forward to a great day of golf and celebration at one of the premier golf courses in the DC, national capital region. The community center, named after Stacy Sherwood, will be located adjacent to Van Dyck Park. The building is 14,330 square feet. The main floor is 12,554 square feet and the basement is 1,776 square feet. The center will host youth and adult recreation programs, cultural activities and arts-related activities, including rehearsals. It will also be made available for rentals for small and large functions.The center is slated to open for community use by January of 2011 and anticipates over 30,000 users visiting annually. What Is The Legacy Program? The Legacy Program is your unique way to contribute to the development and enhancement of the City of Fairfax Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center, parks, trails, arts and facilities. Through gifting and naming opportunities, your contribution will be used to purchase much needed community center, parks, trails and facility equipment while recognizing you or a loved one for years to come. For 7 years now, the KAANV Job Fair has served as the premiere job fair in Northern Virginia. During these 7 years there have been major shifts in the economy, but what has remained constant is the satisfaction of the employers attending our fair. As the economy recovers, your attendance will provide you with an efficient opportunity to survey a large number of job applicants quickly and inexpensively. It also will enable you to network with other employers as well as promote your company in a large public forum (applicants numbering well over 1,000.) |

Federal Grant Workshop, April 23 |

FEDERAL GRANT WORKSHOP Rep. Frank Wolf (R-10th) will host a conference aimed at helping area organizations apply for federal grants on April 23 in Loudoun County. Representatives from the departments of Education, Justice, Energy, Agriculture and Health and Human Services have been invited to speak about grants and strategies for successful applications. The popular “Grants.gov” Web site also will be discussed. The conference is free and open to any non-profit organization or local government in the 10th District. Wolf has held similar conferences in the past. The conference will be from 9:30 a.m. - noon on Tuesday, April 23, at the Loudoun Campus of the Northern Virginia Community College on Route 7 in Sterling. Space is limited.
